In and effort to more fully appreciate the artistic side of this class, I decided to visit Shift Space for the first time. At first glance, I saw very little that appealed to me. The first exhibit was a series of pictures that, although pretty, did not achieve the goal that the artist had set with it’s title. She had taken pictures of farm objects and called it “modern life.” Admittedly though, the gallery became more interesting as I walked along. The next exhibit was a series of panoramic pictures that if put together would have made a complete 360-degree picture in the middle of a field. By far though, the most interesting exhibit to me was a set of stacked tv’s that had some old movies switching throughout them. It appeared to be a perfectly random set of shows that were in black and white. At times the tv’s became much louder allowing the viewer to understand what the artist wanted to portray. In all, I feel that this exhibition was quite interesting and entertaining. I believe it to be of much benefit to anyone who views it.
